On October 26th, 126 enthusiastic professionals from the mining and resources industry gathered at the QT Hotel Perth for the Young Mining Professionals (YMP) Perth Inaugural Gala Dinner. This event brought together some of the brightest minds in the sector for a sensational evening of networking, celebration, and philanthropy, with proceeds benefiting the CoRE Learning Foundation. The gala not only showcased the power of the mining industry but also highlighted the critical role that education and industry collaboration play in shaping the future of STEM careers in Australia.
The YMP’s Impact on the Mining Sector
The YMP is a prominent association of mining professionals, established to enhance the global profile and leadership of the mining and exploration industry. With a presence in major mining hubs around the world, YMP plays an instrumental role in supporting the growth and development of young professionals. The organisation’s mission to provide participants with the tools, knowledge, and networks to thrive in the mining sector was clearly evident at this inaugural gala.

The event's atmosphere was elevated by addresses from influential leaders, including the Honourable David Michael MLA, Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Ports; Road Safety, and Minister Assisting the Minister for Transport. In his speech, Minister Michael emphasised the importance of the mining sector to the state’s economic prosperity, while highlighting the need to nurture future generations of mining professionals.

Raising Funds for CoRE’s Important Work
The energy of the evening continued with a raffle, silent auction, and live auction, where attendees enthusiastically participated, bidding on a range of items. All proceeds from these auctions went directly to the CoRE Learning Foundation.
Thanks to the generosity of attendees and contributors, the event raised an impressive $12,240, all of which will go towards funding CoRE’s impactful initiatives. These funds will directly support CoRE’s mission to provide hands-on STEM education and industry exposure for students, empowering them to pursue careers in the resources sector and beyond.
